    I'm sure it works.

For me and my 50g sump with Chaeto, I use 2 x aluminum cone reflectors, and a 100W CFL (6500K) in each one. The 100W equivalent CFL only uses like 28Watts, or something close to that.

So, I have 200Watts, on a timer about 12 hrs, opposite my DT lights.
    My chaeto thrives, etc.

And it costs next to nothing, and the bulbs are at any bog box store, not a fish/pet store.

I'm running something very similar on my 3.6g CPR Aquafuge. Don't like it at all. It gets very hot! As soon as $$ allows, I'll be replacing it.

Thanks for the replies. I'll keep looking around for more options. 50 bucks is not bad for this fixture in my opinion. I'll look into the cones as well.

Clarofaro. Does your unit get hot? Which one do you have? The 13, 24 or 36 watt?

Gotta go with Todd sails and LG on this! Better options IMO, I have a similar set up for sale for $15, too much heat and energy used for me! Just bought this at lowes for just under $20 and a bulb uses less than $2 in energy a year!

    Each bulb lasts 10 years
    I chose 5000k but 6500k was available
A cheap timer, not real concerned about accuracy, I'll tweak time every few months
And a cheap reflector with clip
