Do you have to quarantine corals?

LFS had new corals in. I'll say I'm a beginner with corals but do have a Derasa clam and torch coral. Both doing great.
I like the tree or branch type of corals. I see tanks where the top of LR is covered with them. But might just get some zoa to start. LFS doesn't have the tree type.

Here what they have. Any advice on these? For my 100g tank. And how to QT. My 30g QT is ready. Any meds? I ask because with fish you watch their behavior.

    Button polyp
    Long polyp leather
    Dragon eye zoanthid
    Pinwheel zoa
    Pompom Xenia
    Orange/ green zoanthid
    Pulsing Xenia

All of those you will want to dip before adding to your tank, most soft corals have some type of nudibranch that preys on them.

I've never heard of quarantining corals though, just dip, acclimate, and introduce. If you have certain fish that may eat corals, keep an eye on them.

By tree/branching corals, I assume you mean SPS like acropora?

I keep all of my new coral purchases or trades in a bare bottom QT/hospital tank for at least several days while I treat them. By using a bare bottom and elevating the corals on some eggcrate I can see the worms, red bugs and pests that drop off of them and siphon them off the bottom.

Well, there's your answer lol. Personally I never QT'd corals just because while I acclimate then after a dip, you can usually see the pests dropping off in the bucket/bag.

Yeah, its an iodine based dip, you can search for DIY coral dips if you don't want to spend as much.
