DIY waterfall algae Scrubber

Well just want to say thanks!! Now because of this thread I'm goin to have to build my own ATS!! I hope you're all happy now!!!

But I do have a couple questions about the splash box... Should the box cover the entire screen? Or just at the top where the water flows onto it? And if it covers the entire screen, wouldn't it block out a lot of light once a lot of water splash an condensation starts build up? Then wouldn't algae even start to grow on the box?

 

So here's today. Got a curious growth pattern forming, bright green at the bottom. Any way.

 

Um, best advise would be to do some googling and check out some designs. Mods forgive me and feel free to edit if I'm not supposed to do this but check or algaescrubber.net is where I learned everything.
