DIY shell rock!

    i like the idea, it could look like coquina rock if done right. coquina rock is basically all crushed shells bound into sedimentary rock with pressure and time added....makes for some nice structures out their in the ocean i dont know about glue, but i am sure there is some clay like material that would work........potable mortar mix or something

    edit - oh, pered i guess explained it away before i got the chance to post. oh well, i leave the post up anyway :)

    i would just use the shells and kinda scatter them on the substrate that looks good. then if you get any hermits they can use them any time

    what about tunnels?i want a pistol shrimp so he could make a home with them!;D

    Pistol Shrimp bury in the sand, not shells. And I think you sort of have to cycle the rock if it is going in an established tank.

    no i have some shells that are like rubble and pistol shrimp love rubble ... i think lol;D

    They love consolidating their burrows with it, but they still need sand.

    I read that if u put chunks of some type of salt in the mix, then cure it when it hardens, that the salt will then dissolve and make the rock more porous. maybe look into it
