Lighting looks great and overall setup. If you don't mind le asking what was your total cost on this set up. I would love to do this on my 55g but I would have to double up.

OP used 24 LEDs (12 blue and 12 white) The constand current kit costs about $220. The dimmable version is availible for $250 plus controller.

    Results for DIY Retrofit Kits

These don't include the price for a normal heat sink. They come with a strip. For a full tank lighting you will want something like this.

The light has been on for like 7~8 hours straight today, the heatsink is not even warm to the touch. The living room temp was like 67F, so its running really cool. I will add the fan tho, just in case.

Its really great to be able to choose the color mixture with cool white and royal blue. I like it tad more bluish, the wife likes it more cool white. We're always fighting over the dimmer :)

All the pics are not tweaked in any way (except the size).

How would putting acrylic around the light effect the temp or have you thought about something like that? To give it more of a finished product look, it still looks great just asking is all

I will cover it with two long aluminum angles to hold a lexan under the optics. Well basically like this.
