    Just a quick update:

I removed the sand from my DIY fuge, cleaned it out really well, and added small pieces of LR instead. I'm not exactly sure how small the pieces should be, so hopefully there will be some feedback on that. Once this is operating the way I want it to, I will add updated photos of changes that were made.

I actually went to Lowes and bought a small silver clip-on light for it. It comes with an R14 25w bulb. It cost me around $8. This is the light other people who replied have for theirs.

I'll add a pic when I get my chaeto this week.

Is that R14 25w bulb a spiral compact florescent? If not, then you should buy one. A 6500k daylight bulb is what I'd suggest. The 23w florescent I have is equivalent to a 100w incandescent. That may be too much for such a small fuge, so maybe the 13w or 18w bulb would be sufficient. I bought the bulb at Lowes, but you can also find the bulb in a 2pk at Walmart. The single bulb cost me $3.88, but the 2pk is around $6.00.

It's not a CFL. It's shaped like a floodlight but is a lot smaller. It does get super hot so I need to see if I can get a smaller size. I think I may have problems getting am R14 with the proper k setting.

A CFL spiral florescent should fit right into that silver clip on fixture. No need to get a different R14 bulb, get a CFL as they both have a standard sized base.

The fixture I have requires a smaller base, and not the normal sized one like a standard bulb. It says R14 on the fixture which I am guessing is the smaller base.

( I have a migraine so perhaps I'm misunderstanding )

    Hmmmm.........
When I Google R14 25w bulb, all of the results say it's a standard base bulb. Got a link to the fixture and bulb?
