I finally thought I might put one or two small frag racks in my DT.
For the first time since reefing, I didn't view any 'how-to's'- it seemed easy enough for a DIY.

My good friend Norg had given me a piece of Eggcrate to cut a DIY a frag rack out of.
I cut the 'rack portion I wanted, and cut 3 supports for the rack.

I'm waiting on my ebay magnets to mount this

I also scavenged a dishwasher I was getting rid of, and saw the potential in the smaller racks that when on the shelves.

And Juan was nice enough to donate one of his old MagFloats, so I could make my very first DIY frag rack.
I ziptied the magfloat to the piced I had cut out of one of the untensil baskets

    And already put to use

    Go for it,

Since my tanks inception- ~23months, I NEVER wanted any racks in my DT.

But now, the ones I'm using and going to use are thin, and will always be magneted to the back wall- and almost behind some rockwork, so not that obtrusive.

I caved. But really the reason is to have a few frags for reefer guests and friends for trades -(I like trading for IPA styule beer!), and maybe a few sales, trades mostly though.

I now have 56 different species of coral, the majority of them sps

Look for locals- much cheaper than lfs usually.

Out of my 56 species, I'll be less than 3 or 4 came from a lfs, I did buy many from other reefers, traded many, and some were actually given to me!

I do GIVE frags as well often, especially softies.

    What comes around goes around

It's always interesting to see what your DIY projects are. Never would of thought of using dishwasher parts. Cool stuff.

    Thanks, I think? ;-)

I'm always looking at things, extra pieces, various packing pieces for items like in the medical field, etc., and saying to myself, HHhmmmmm,
What could I use that for on my Reef tank system!

I never thought I would have a rack in my tank. And never really could find a good way to mount it. After reading your thread my mind started to go crazy and I had to do one too. Post 203 in my build.
    Thanks Todd for the idea.
