    ..it's also an 8 bulb. That about 16" wide. Which would be ok over the 30G B as fr as width, but it would probably bleach your corals because the tank is pretty shallow. 640w. lmao

    so i could just go 16inchs wide but with just 4 bulbs not 8 ?

    I was showing a TekLight 6x 39w fixture w/bulbs. $399

    You would even go 6 bulbs. But the one you posted was 8 x 80w.

    trying to stay under 300 dollars for lights but wouldn't a
    24" 4x24W Tek Light T5 High-Output Fixture w/ Bulbs (Black)
    be fine?

    You may have some dark water on the ends. That 12" shorter than the tank. personally I would try not to go any less than "(shorter) thn the tank length.

    If you want you could go with a less expensive light. TekLight & ATI tend to be about $50-100 more just for being themselves. They are top of the line.

    You could also try retro-fit lighting.
