Agreed, you should have a tank that is at least 18" deep and 36" long.

I have a friend with a 30 gallon tank ( 18" x 36" ) & he has 2 healthy adult discus. Of course the most important thing is to keep the tank spotlessly clean !

its like people with a tang in less than a 4ft tank... yes you can keep one, maybe two, heck even three, doesnt mean they'll be happy.

I would say 0. I'm looking into setting up a 75-120 gallon discus tank here in the near future and they need a lot of space and very clean water.

    As I Said

As I said, I was talking about a friend who has the 2 discus in a 30 gallon. I just purchased 2. They beautiful ! My tank is 36 inches long, 12 inches wide & 18 inches deep.
I have a cannister filter, but have read many articles that have said a sponge filter is much better so I have ordered one. They say the sponge should be washed once a month in the aquarium water I get from the water change. The charcoal & ammonia chips somehow inhibit the process of building bacteria & should only be used when the water is cloudy.

    Thanks for your help.
