    i would keep it if it seems it doesnt mean harm.i like to have crabs in my tank.

    its a xenia crab and is carnivorous. will eat anything and everything, i wouldnt have one in my reef tank. a friend of mine discovered his when the 6" maxima clam was missing. they can get pretty big.

    never mind if he is a fish eater.only if you have predator fish like eels and stuff.

    Take it to your LFS and have them feed it to the triggers, lol! Its also fun watching a small puffer combat a crab thats about 4 or 5 inches long....

    Had one of these once upon a time...caused great destruction before I was able to find and catch it.

    After looking at the pics.....seems I too may have an Acropora crab.....may be the reason my montis have been doing poorly here lately. I put emrealds into my tank didn't have any problems and my thought was if the claws were rounded they are ok (algae eater) and the sharper looking ones I had to get out. Then I saw one of my emeralds messing around with my feather duster and that is when all that I could find got out. Put them in the fuge to fend for themselves! Then the other night I saw the "Acropora" crab scurrying about. Have not takent the time to get him......but will take the time now!

    Acro crabs usually only hang out in acropora colonies and will not damage the coral. I have never seen one as hairy as the ones in the pictures posted.
