Nice dendro! Yep, when I had mine, that is how the new babies would sprout. Good job!
yes, eventual babies. slow grower IME
But, also IME, these need to be target fed very regularly. I couldn't keep up with this coral and eventually lost it.
That's probably why mine is growing like a weed. I feed him all the time. Everything from mysis to bloodworms to silversides.
we feed ours daily a mixture of cyclopeeze, oyster feast, mysis, coral freenzy, rotifeast. We alternate between those as to what we feed it for good variety
An interesting fact though on dendros.....a dead or dying polyp will grow out babies a lot faster. Not suggesting you kill a head, however one of ours fell onto a rock and basically got buried. When we found it it was just a skeleton. Curt said dont toss it, and within a couple months I have 7 babies forming on it!;D My other healthy polyps are reproducing at a much slower rate...maybe 1 polyp a month or so
make sure you are feeding each polyp directly and individually. We use a baby medicine dropper
I've had these two heads for around 4 mths now and this is the first babies I've had. It's just all at once which is unexpected.
Babys, babys, and more babys! I had to move it today because there are so many growing on it that they were growing into the rock behind it.
this is a piece that we picked up from the LFS about 3 months ago. It had one polyp that was doing ok......not great and one piece that was completely dead. Apparently it had fallen off the rack and was mostly buried by the sand/rock. So we got it for a deal as no one thought it would survive.
We feed ours daily, if not a couple times a day and is in our NPS tank. I would say we have at least 9 babies growing from the one dead skeleton and about 4-5 on the other. Very well worth the $25.00 that we paid for the piece orginally
Well worth the $25. Nice.
congrats. I read in here that even a dead skeleton can spawn babies and to not throw it away if one ever dies. looks like this is proof. mine are still spreading too and i love it. its my favorite coral still by far.
I got a hitchhiker coral that we id as a dendro of some sort, but mine sucks, no color at all, just clear, I would like to have some of those orange ones also, very cool!!
