    They are non-photosynthetic and yes you must feed them. Look a cpl threads dwn...there's more info there and throughout 3R.;)

    It IS photo synthetic. I don't think you have to feed it, but it definitely responds well to food.

    Just a quick question, where do you guys have your duncans placed in your tank? Mine is halfway up in my tank right now.

    i have it on the bottom in partial (maybe 20%) shade under T5's and it's doing awesome.

    Thanks, I didn't want to be confused. I could target feed, but my wife already thinks I am nuts over the tank. I sort of didn't want to confirm it to her.;D

    OK now I'm confused. Which species of Dendrophylliidae do you say IS photosynthetic and contains that endosymbiotic algae?

    I am saying the genus of Dendrophyllia (not to be mistaken with tubastraea (sun corals)) is photo synthetic.

    Not an expert on it - but it is what I have read.

    I know most of the family dendrophylliidae is non-photosynthetic, but pretty sure that the genus dendrophyllia and duncanopsammia are.
