ok well my tank is a FOWLR. i never had an urge (or bank account) to get in to corals. but with just live rock its kind of looking boring. now i say stuff like this for sale:
    Fake Aquarium Corals and Inverts

do you thing something like those will sprouse up my tank, or are they considered tacky.

    what are my options?

this is what my tank looks like now:

beauty is in the eye of the beholder PB&J

some of them look OK to me , some of them look to artificial and I prefer a more natural look hence live corals

but if you like them, then go for it IMHO

There are some good replicas out there. Just search the web to find ones that look good to you.

you could always just start out with ricordeas or xania. they're pretty inexpensive and they are fairly easy to care for. i had a fowlr tank for about a year, got a green ricordea on a whim and now have a few corals and that ric. just start slow. i think if you got into the corals they would make you love your aquarium even more.

In my 37 gallon FOWLR I have fake coral and they are really pretty. Just make sure to look around and buy nice quality ones (they can be quite expensive). I really like them! And if you like them, that's really all that matters!

Here's a picture of mine (I also have fake plants in it!! :) )
