My situation may not be as clear in that I've done several things (aside frm the addition of a bottled product) that could have easily been influential in bringing down the nitrites.

    Day 38 No Nitrites

Finally, no nitrites but nitrates still high.

    Day 38: 8, 0, 0, 40

Whether it was the MB7, addition of some seeding water, rock, and substrate, or simply things taking their course... nitrites are 0 for the 2nd day without doing a water change.

So, is it reasonable that nitrates will also resolve without a pwc?

Diatoms have appeared over the past few days as well. See photos:

And this is what the coraline looked like last Friday (Nov 4 when I acquired it). Photo above shows suspect diatom growth on the coraline.

After 20% PWC Nitrates Still Very High

On day 40 of cycle, yesterday did first 20% pwc.

Nitrates still very high. API test still shows in the 20-40 ppm range.

    Now, what?

just give it some time with water changes it will go down, also think about adding a fuge to eat some of your nitrates or an algae scrubber

    Have a fuge.

How frequently do I do the pwc? All at 20%?

as needed some do once a week, others once every other, some even once a month it all depends on your params/calcium etc

Do you have macroalgae in the fuge?

20g diy sump/fuge with fern caulerpa, grape caulerpa, and chaeto with live rock. That said, fuge was only 'seeded' and stocked (macroalgae) on Nov 4, which was 30 days after initiating cycle.

Have an additional order of chaeto, ulva, and 'pods+' coming from reefcleaners to arrive this week.
