Nice write-up! If it wasn't for your original thread and a ton of help from you, exactly and cosmo, I would never have tried a DIY led light. Thanks for the new info!!!

    Thank you much sir. :)
Agree it still lacks there, but the necessity of that range is still a debatable area by most. I know where you stand however. I've always been interested to know how much of that spectrum gets filtered out in water column by mid-tank height.

    Thanks!

Thank you; I'm happy I've been able to help others along.

I'm surprised you didn't try the amber. They have a good peak too (well compared to radium halides) Looks good maybe it will be powerful enough to conquer the birdnest monster.

Well that all depends on intensity! The degradation in water is almost exponential for everything on the lower side of 465nm but with just one or two LEDs it will be a small amount but nothing like a coral exposed to it in low tide.

    Looks really good.

I'm surprised you didn't use the new Cree XT-E blues and Whites. The blues especially are incredibly cheap. What current are you running the Crees at? I run them at 1300mah with no issues. (Only XP-G could do this for you)

I think you missed a few details.

The answer to your question is simple: XT-E didn't exist nearly 2 years ago, and XP-G was brand new at that time (and are still more powerful than XT-E).
