the difference betwwen what you buy in the lfs is not only that people who are catching them know what their catching but there is also that transmission period where most of the weak or sick ones will either die or become noticably sick, its not necessarily the best thing but its sort of a natural selection type process... also if the store sells you bad crabs they will most likely know about it before you will and you will be able to remove them

I know of a few good clean areas where I live. I may have to get out the rules and regs of harvesting. ;D

Man, thats easier said than done. You may be right, but anything near the shore line isnt really a good idea. People spill all kinds of stuff in the ocean, not to mention what boats contribute to that. I would be very careful. Luna

    There's poulution every where,
But the US and EPA regulations have done a real good job at making companys and people clean up.
Of course we often forget that collecting from the beach
the collectors do the same thing , i don't think theres any diffrence between us or them.

Qt might be the thing to do of course if collecting your self.

becareful is my only advice, do you have a reef tank. if so i would quarentine him with some zoas, and see if he picks at them. if you don't have enough food in your sand it may go after bigger game
