Good point Vinny on the PH raising toxicity of ammonia. I believe even John from reefcleaners.org mentions that in his email after ordering when acclimating snails and crabs to just float them and throw them in because of that very reason....I remember when I put my first coral in I sat there dripping it and all for a zoa frag. lol. How much you learn in this hobby. I'm sure those coral farmers laugh at us when it comes to a lot more things than just air exposure.

Definitely a valuable video. Finally got over my fears and added my first corals today. Went and bought 4 frags. So far so good!

not sure if it would be related, but this morning i woke up to seeing one of my new addition candlelight acro's RTN'd. Only difference that i think could've contributed to this is, i changed the location of the frag rack yesterday, but it's the same height for lighting. and i removed one piece of rock to place into my new tank to seed. the one issue that i did have was removing that piece of rock triggered the ATO to kick on pumping quite a bit of water into the system along with the kalk mix in my container causing a PH spike.

Might also want to check your sg, make sure it didn't drop too far.

Got to agree, never dripped them in 30 years or any other rubbish.
Straight in without delay. Lost less corals than I have fingers in over two decades.

The salinity actually dropped to 1.024 from 1.026 after the RTN of one of the sps frags I had. Could this be the cause? Tomorrow I get back home from Sydney so I'll be able to check and see if the tank sitter got it back up to 1.026 slowly since I left.
