I did not, I think I waited a few days and did my normal 5g change I do each week. I remember testing AM and NI that night and everything was 0 but it's likely my NA was jacked up because of the star rotting, right?

I have since tested NA more and find it around 5-10ppm normally.

fwiw i used red slime when i was fighting cyno. it definately helped however a few days after using it my coral beauty angel died. dont know for sure if it was related not. i just know that i had the angel for quite some time and he seemed perfectly healthy then died shortly after dosing.

heres what I did for my old 90 reef: bought chemi-clean

heres what I did for a planted tank that got it: bought red slime remover.

In both cases I had success.Personally I thought the chemi-clean worked better. realize sometimes this is sometimes just a step in your tanks establishment like acne for people and others its a symptom of poor husbandry. If it's the latter the cyano will be just be replaced with another algae type. You know your husbandry better then others.

as a hobbyiest my advice is don't be afraid of the tools at your disposal as long as you understand the problem and the tool.
