Glad it's getting better. I have a Lava chalice about 6" across. It started to turn clear white so I moved it not only low but kinda shaded. My lights are just too bright for it even on the sandbed. I had it semi-shaded with a tonga branch cave and it's almost back to normal. A couple times I've tried to move it higher thinking maybe it just needed to adjust to the lights but, each time it would go down hill. So it will just have to stay in a low light area.

Also when I upgraded bulbs to the SPS bluelife bulb from Odyssea bulb the deterioration accelerated. It was just way to bright.

OK, can upload some pics now. So updating this thread.

You can still see plenty of skeleton, but it's starting to be covered by a thin layer of coral. And it's starting to expand ever so slightly sometimes.

All pics taken at same time from different angles

So I am happy for this one. Leaving it alone still.

I would take a guess and say too much light as to why it is recessing. how is your mag in the tank? my first one I lost also I didn't read enough on them some require alot of light and some do best with antic lighting.

on a side note: I was told by a local reefer chalice with pointy tips are more hard to keep then one with more round tips. that was his experience. I gather alot of info. from this guy as his system and corals are great.

    Thanks.

Getting it in shade is what helped the most.

Very nice. It's amazing what these corals can recover from. Glad to see it made it!
