couple of images of my latest find at the LFS
I saw it and initially thought it was a carpet nem
enquiry revealed it was in fact a brain coral
several minutes with a Blackberry and a google of brain coral ID

Carpet Lobophylia was the closest match I could find

its a bit pale at present - was kept under 2 x T8s
But the flesh overlaps the skeleton in all areas / no expossed calcium plates , so I figured I would see if I can get this nice looking coral to colour up for me

    looks like a carpet
wont eat my fish - it may eat mysis and other small foods offered weekly
and wont go walkabout looking for a power head

    hope you like it

    Steve

Sorry for the delay - Pierce Eye's now self deleted post had me wondering over to Google again trying to get more ID confirmation
I have not found an identical picture as yet but Lobos look the closest although there where a couple of Symopholia species that seemed similar also?

    Thank you 2 in 10

    Thanks Hilton

    Thank you Inwall75

    Thanks Corailline

    Thank you SushiGirl

    Thanks KC

if it might help the ID

the skeleton - I saw this as he bagged the coral - which he handled with his hand in a polybag, and then once he had wafted the coral to close it a bit picked it up with the bag, inverted it, and removed the coral and water from the tank together (I have never seen anyone do it that way before and I was pretty impressed)

the skeleton is almost the same as you would see on a bubble coral or a non branching hammer coral, it has plates laid side by side, which could be seen at the flesh contracted as it released its fluids
in addition, this thing could not move, as it has the same calcium rock type base that you get with the bubbles, hammers, elegance species

my turbos would need to team up to move this baby
