My Carib sand gave me a lot of issues. I love it, but it took a while to settle. I turned-off my pumps, and ran an old Aqua Clear filter with some Carbon.

One thing you can do is siphon INTO a filter sock for a while to polish it. I have a good thread on a cheap sock holder but someone made a cool eggcrate one that works awesome and requires less tools to make. I know you sump makes it hard but where there is a zip tie there's a way. Its also WAY cheaper than a hob filter ;-)

Nah just get a 100-200 micron filter sock. I didn't wash my sugar sand and it clear it up overnight ( my sock did get pluged up though so make sure you have a spare to swap out)

Its just dust and fine argonite particulates it won't necessarily hurt anything just aggravate you, fish and corals a bit. Mechanical filtration is all you need bud.
