    That pic is taken from the top, it's a zero edge tank, so it's not sideways. I'd just let it grow how it wants. No matter which way it grows out, I don't think you'd be disappointed.

    montis are some of the easiest sps to care for, but remember they are still sps, and require lots of light, flow, calcium, and great parameters.

    Yeah I'm thinking I'll add my first in 6 months once the tank is mature. According to LA they require the same amount of light as most Lps, moderate.

    I also heard that to get the best coloration it's not about light, it's parameters.

    i believe to get best coloration its a mix of all the elements to care for them, if you have fantastic water but crap light they wont live.

    They are one of my favs too. I like all types too - the branching are really cool and encrusting allow you to fill those areas of rock that need some color.

    i hear also if you make a cut into the monti it creates that overlapping of the skeleton that montis are famous for.

    I thought you had to cut montis with bone cutters (x-acto knife not strong enough for skeleton)? Wouldn't the bone cutters just snap the coral into two pieces if you tried to cut it?
