    I worked in a water treatment plant with its own lab at the time. I kept a 29G reef in my office and a display out front next to my Admin Assts desk.

    My nitrates were also that High, I am Volka dosing and added a skimmer. It's working

    alot of coral will appear to 'thrive' and then crash one by one very rapidly. I agree that some type of carbon sourse (pellets, vodka/vinegar) should be employed.

    I've got to admit that I don't even test for nitrate anymore, vodka dose daily, skim and 15% changed out every Sunday... My kit is still in date by 3 years but I think I will recommend he do a couple of 75% changes, we live 2 hours from a 'decent' LFS
