I just got water in my tank to do it's initial cycle and am noticing little red polyp looking things sprouting from a couple pieces of rock.

This rock is dead coral skeletons that was from a customers breakdown and I bought it dry at the LFS, I purchased it around January 15th already dried out and just got it in water on Saturday.

Can stuff live this long on dry rock?

The polyp thingys are about 1/8inch and purple Coraline colored.

Those were the first thing that showed up on my old rock (6 1/2 years dry in my garage) when I set this tank up.

    Those are them!

Kinda exciting seeing my first life in the tank w/o having live rock seeding it yet.

I'm really stoked to get some live rock in there now.

    Thanks for the help.
