    can this mushroom be takin off the back of this shell without hurting it or the crab that took the shell over?
    also can anyone i.d. this little guy

    Cut the mushroom off at its base and super glue it to a rock or frag plug. It will be fine.

    do I need to cut at the base of the head or the base of the stock?

    If you don't remove all of it from the shell, it will most likely grow back. Mushrooms and many leathers only need a small fragment to start a whole new one.

    Ok so the hermit moved out and made my move while home for lunch .a plus to living 3 blocks from my shop lol. Will post pics of new placement tomorrow.
