Hello 3reef!! I was looking into a refugium for both of my tanks. I have a wet/dry filter on my 75 gallon tank, and I have a marineland powerfilter on my 29 gallon tank. Can it be done??? I've been reading on powerfilters being turned into small refugiums. Can it be done with a wet/dry system??

I use my wet/dry now with live rock rumble instead of bioballs, and have a little part at the bottom for chaeto and mangroves next to return pump and skimmer..

I just cut a piece of plastic to put next to skimmer to keep chaeto and mangroves away from skimmer pump and return pump. you can do the same, but since you dont have a insump skimmer you have a little more room. you could cut some acyrlic to use and put some mud or sand in that department, make sure you have a little water flow there, by keeping you water level a little higher than the baffle or drill a couple small holes towards the top of baffle..

I just did this.. kinda sucks, but you get the idea.. as long as the water level in sump is 1" or higher than the baffle then return pump should have enough water pressure to feed back into tank.. also several 1/2" holes at top of baffle will help..

I would do it this way, but because of my skimmer just not enough room for me.. :(

Where would I put the plastic and the sand?? In the same compartment as the return pump or under the bio balls. Oh and should I get rid of the bio ball to put the LR pieces?? Is that better for pods??
