    can i have any montipora like a sunset or superman monti. i have an orange montipora that hitchiked on to my lr and has grown wonderfully but are these any different? my lighting is in my sig

    montipora is very forgiving but you need the flow. I would say that it would "maybe" be possible with the fluorescents but it is really a fine line between life and death with those lights for those nicer montis :/

    i agree with dingo, they would also like to be placed in the upper half of your tank as close to the lights to keep those bright colors

    Ditto plus I would replace the actinics with 450nm bulbs. The actinics have very little PAR but the 450's seem to have more.

    I have both types of those montis and have a 6x54w Tek T5 fixture. I have found montis are pretty easy to keep. However, if you don't have enough light they will brown out. I had a really nice purple digitata under 4x54w T5 and it browned out from a bright purple to a maroon color. You don't want to spend a fair amount of money on these frags then have them brown out b/c your lights are powerful enough. Currenntly, my sunset is growing really well, but the orange has lightened a bit, I think it has too much light, but not sure.
