Can i add a mandarin now?

    i have a 190 reef tank set up a month ago (with some live rock from my established previous tank ) , i see the pods thriving in my DT and the refugium as well. :)

    A lot of people are going to tell you to wait 6 months, I say go for it but im the risky type.

    6 months? do pods take so long to reproduce? ;D

    what he said ^^....worstcase u can dose the tank with pods if it does deplete u...if pod population is up and stable like you say i dont think that will b the case.

    I would wait but thats just me I hate to see life like that die, wich it will, he will deplete the pods in no time.

    i put my mandarin in after only 2months fuge came about 2months later and my mandarin is huge. fat huge as well as length huge about 4 inches mabe more long :)

    does it thrive on anything except pods?

    Mine had a taste for mini brittle starfish. They survive on a variety of benthic inverts.

    I believe these fish need more then just pods, id wait and make sure your tank is established. No need to rush anything in this hobby. They needs pods and a VERY stable enviorment as sudden changes can kill them.
