Welcome to 3reef, can't tell from the pics.
What are the numbers on your nitrates and phosphates?

Get one it will help you when dealing with algae issues. It is pretty much a necessity if you keep SPS.

I have that too and it doesn't seem to harm anything. I did notice that hermits do eat it along with chitons.

Just a guess, but it could be cyano. In my experiences, when it first shows up it kind of looks furry, until it gets thicker. Then it gets kind of stringy. A clearer pic would really help.

It looks like a red form of cyano that I have dealt with as well. With a few water changes and frequent water testing it went away and all my corals were happy campers. If the tank is new cyano tends to be more prevelant as it is a sign of a tank cycling.

Hard to tell from the photos but looks like red slime algae to me which is cyanobacteria.
