to kill bryopsis you have to kill the roots...

raise you mag to 2000 like others have said... you're supposed to use Kent M or brightwell M otherwise it won't work. I haven't heard that it is M sulfate, though, if so that is just epsom salts and you could do it cheaply. Just don't raise more than 100ppm per day...

No keep everything in the DT, increase your water changes and go to wet skimming to help with export of nitrate and phosphate, add GFO to your filtration and a fuge with marcoalgae like chaetomorpha to your sump to help remove the nitrate and phosphate.

I read where reefers used mag chloride and it had no effect. Kent Tech M seems to have some other additive that helps with killing thee bryopsis.

ordered up some Tech M and Coral RX dip, cost me another 40 bucks, but for the eagle eyes and fire and Ice i guess i would pay 60 online for all the polyps it got :-/ As for the LR its banished to darkness until further notice. The frags are now in tiny tupperware containers in the tank so that the bryopsis will only spread through sexual reproduction and wont get in my sand or spread onto other rock in the tank. By Monday I should have a working sump/fuge with my aqua via 4900 driving a BRS dual reactor as well. I'm currently fighting an outbreak or slime as well, did a 20 percent change last night and added some stuff that worked in the past. My skimmer went NUTS and still is removing tons of gunk so I hope that helps. Nice when everything goes downhill. My 46, never done a change, never had a problem other than a little gha and slime at times :p

I ended up having to tear down my 90 gallon due to the exact same issue, tried the mag trick didn't work, even went dark for 2 weeks and that didn't do the trick either, best of luck

if it's still limited to your frags and you can't get them off the rocks they came on, you need to aggressively get rid of it - pull/pinch/scrub the algae off the rock while working outside of your tank. dip the frags. raise your mag. watch them closely for recurrence, and if it comes back, repeat treatment until there's no algae to be seen.

if it really is bryopsis, and you let it get going in your tank, you'll go nuts...
    trust me, i've been there.

Gametes/spores can lay dormant and can't be seen(most of them) with the naked eye; the spores can also survive much less than likely conditions. They(algae) will come back if the conditions are right for them. If you buy a rock from a store and another piece of rock, with valonia, popped and released the spores, your piece of rock likely has these spores that will ride it out 'til the time is right. Best way to get it off of rock is to nuke/bleach. Other than that, supply the system with competitive algae along with other methods of keeping it at bay. I had bryopsis in my last 55 that only grew in the overflow. It had been almost 2 years since I was, duped, and sold a piece with some on it before it found the right place and time to come back.
