brown algae

    have a 8-12 month old 250 litre tank,running red sea prizm skimmer fluval 405 external filter 2 power heads and t5 lighting.2 damsels,blue star fish 4 hermit crabs,2 snails and a sea hare. having real bad problems with brown algae every where having to clean glass twice a day and its all over rock,coral and gravel.alkalinity slightly low but all other tests ok,can anyone help me with this annoying proble? thanks

    What kind of water are you using for changes and top offs...possible Diatom bloom...

    just using RO water for top ups bought from local aquatics center.no tap water has ever been introduced into the aquarium thanks

    Shoot a pic over - It could be Cyanobacteria or Dinoflagellates. One is easier to get rid of then other. But with out a pic we cant be sure what it is.
