brown algae

    Ok now I have brown algae and it's driving me nuts. I only had this for a short bit after I cycled. Now it will be a year in June since the tanks has been set up. The brown algae started a few weeks ago and I have no idea why. And I can't seem to get rid of it. I am so tired of these problems.

    I do weekly water changes
    clean out media filter weekly
    change carbon regularly
    use ro water
    use instant ocean salt

    what am I doing wrong to have this bloom.

    Is it powdery like diatoms or is it slimy like dinoflagellates?
