Don't forget to clean the screen every 7 days, no matter if you think it needs it or not.

    Third Week update.
    Nitrates 20-30 Down from 40-60
I do have Kent marine nitrate sponge in a sock in the overflow but not sure how much it is doing. It's been there 2 months. I also run a nitrate coil but can't seem to get it to do much. Sometimes it test less out of the coil and yesterday actually tested more. It's been running since May 10.
Still some green hair in DT. Can't tell if it's going away but it's not increasing.
I had a big spot of Cyano that is completely gone. So I think I'm getting somewhere.
A little behind on my cleaning but here is the before cleaning pics:

Hard to tell in the pic but there is bright green, black and redish brown growing.

Cool.. Only reason I went all out plexiglass is the splash would be everywhere with my setup.
I may have to modify my screen. It's fragile stuff so I may glue both screens to a tank divider so It will be stronger. I rip it too easily when pulling it out for cleanings.

Av8: Can you post pics after cleaning? Want to see how much algae stays in the holes.

Bio... you need to rough up that screen with a hole saw:
