    hmmm, I know this thread is old, but just to make it clear, Tahiti DOES have black sand. I should know I am from Tahiti ;)

    the tahition moon sand is inert with a little bit of buffer to it.

    so dont worry about leaching but it wont buffer as good as aragonite

    I have the Indo Pacific sand made by CaribSea. I think it's really pretty but just my opinion. I also got it for $21 per 20 lbs at a Memphis fish store.
