I have had a black longspine urchin for several months and he has been doing very well, growing and moving all around the tank. I just noticed today that he is expelling dozens of small "pellets" from what is supposed to be his "red eye" the only color other than black on him. Does anyone have any idea what these pellets are? Is is waste or could it be eggs? And why would it be coming out of what is described as his eye?

    I believe it's waste. And I don't think it's an eye.

OK. This critter is always descibed as having a red eye, which is confusing.

Since your link describes what I thought was the eye as the anus, my question has been answered. Thanks civiccars.
