On some of my live rock, I have the typical pink coralline algae hanging out, but on one piece, it looks like there's black coralline.

I've done a search on here, but could not find nothing describing the same thing.

    Any ideas?

i have something similar but if i look close sometimes it has spikes on it,sometimes it has open feeder type tubes, and the rest of the time it looks like coraline.i think its a sponge.

Hmmm.... I don't want it to die!

I only have 30 watts of light....

Do I need to do anything special food wise?

if it is a sponge they filter feed if you have phyoplankton they filter that out of the water.
