Just relocated all my fish sand and live rock from a 75g to a 125g it was a long process and some of the rock died and turned white. The problem is now the rock is turning black. can anyone tell me why.

    Hello and Welcome to 3reef.

It has been my experience that LR covered with coralline algae usually turns white or gray when re-introduced to sw after drying out.

Certain algaes can appear darker such as cyanobacteria and dead or dying green hair algae.

Coralline can also come back in a deep red.

If no resolution than prehaps posting a picture would help.

I think you made the right decision in getting rid of the canister and going to a sump. In the long run I think you will see that. You can try increasing the flow to areas developing the cyanobacteria. Adding some chaeto to the sump if you have not already done so. And lastly addition of some chemipure elite or equiv.
