i was wondering what mods have worked well for the biocube 14. all i did was doctor the filter system.

chamber 1- removed plate, contains heater

chamber 2- removed plates and bio balls, chemipure bottom, filter grass
    above

chamber 3- no mods, contains thermometer

im adding a hydor deflector and a nano pump next week. i have yet to get the bio-skimmer. should i?

ive heard mixed reviews about how much heat the lights cause but i havent had an issue yet, constant 78-79. i also heard if you switch the bulb positions you cab make a mini-fuge in chamber 2. is switching lights all you really need to do that? any other helpful mod suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

switching the lights is just something to keep it alive like a week or so until you can get a better light on it. (like a spiral flourecent bulb)
    here is what i did:

then i scraped the paint off the back with a razor blade
    and attatched it with velcro

    bio-skimmer not worth it IMO

i never had a problem with heat and the stock lights.

They make power compact lights you can submerge completly for just such an application. Just google it and you will find plenty. I even thought about putting one in a canister filter to make a small fuge!

Dude, you could totally like put some flame stickers on it, and some streamers.

Spikes and glitter might look cool....

some killer rocket jets would be double plus grade A super awesome.

You could also add a USB port and wifi antenna. That would be ultra nerdy chic.

    just some ideas....

genius. one question, how much paint did you scrape off the back? because i have a nice small window looking right into chamber 2 which i assume isnt big enough.
