Got any suggestions for removing algae from chaeto?

Apparently there is a draw back to my windowsill fuge... natural light grows all kinds of algae equally well and I have some short green algae growing on my chaeto now.

A lot like hair algae but the strands are very short.

U could take the cheato out and shake it of in a 5 gallon bucket of saltwater. I would say leave it alone but i think it will kill the cheato after a while

Interesting, I just posted a simular question on Sunday...

In a bucket or sink, you need just enough water to cover the Chaeto, shake vigerously... Click here and you can see my before and after pics

I had the same problem. It killed my ball of cheato

Is your algae a light brown color? Cause I have the same problem with this algae all over my tank, it is also collecting in my sump on the sand bed

I saw your thread. This is more of a green algae, and it doesn't shake off easily. The chaeto broke before the other algae came loose.

I did the same and cut down my cheto by 1/3 but in hind sight should have kept as much as possible.
But cleaning it made a big difference - I just shook it in saltwater got all the crap out of it. It's growing again :cheesy:
I will update if any issues arise
