best skimmer for 90 gallon under 300

    I would never get a mesh wheel. Mesh does increase air draw and water, but improper jobs can give start up problems. Mesh will last about 6 months or so and performance will decrease as it wears out. Mesh is a legitimate mod, but I just don't see the need to go that route. Not sure how well the hybrid of the SWC will hold up or how often you will need to redo it.

    The 160 cone will ge good for a 90g and the Atmans have shown to be decent pumps. The Extreme 160 comes with a Sicce 2500. Better pin wheels are a avilable and it is a good performer. Is the 160 cone better than the 160 cylinder....hard to say. The Ex 160 has a bigger better pump. Both will certainly handle a 90g.

    So I decided on the swc 160 (cylinder). It had the highest tank rating.
    Although it seems I couldn't have gone wrong with the reef octopus or another swc. I just read a lot of good things about the sicce pumps.

    Also had some help from mikejrice.
