Anyone know how long it takes to seed base rock from live rock. i just put 30 lbs of live on 20 lbs of base three days ago. The rock is changing color a little. I am also using a coralline algea accelerator. Any help would be appriciated.

2-3 months, about. About the same time it takes to fully cycle the tank.

It's normal for a cycling stage.

If it takes 3 months to cycle an aquarium then something is wrong.

Every book , website , google search I can find says average 1 month.
Nitrogen Cycle: The Cycle of Life

How long does the cycle take?
Typically, new aquariums can be cycled in 2 to 6 weeks, but the actual length of time depends on many factors:
The amount of ammonia being produced during the cycling period
The efficiency of the biological filtration
Whether live rock or live plants are used in this process
Whether you boost bacteria colonies with additives and bio media
Use a quality test kit to test your water conditions every other day, and when both ammonia and nitrite levels return to zero, you'll know the cycle is established.
