    If one fails..... you'll want to second to turn the water off when it gets to that level. It saved me before.

    The first time I didn't have one. My seahorses and my downstairs neighbours didn't appreciate it.

    The second time, the backup caught it but I didn't for some time. The failed one, which was now under water, was rusted O.O

    I now use singles and 5g hoppers.

    well I think just the water moving would set it off, but will need to be below a certain point (which can be chosen by me; float level is adjustable). Each being set off by a switch. Hence, "double switch".

    This is the one I use. It is VERY nice. I have it on a timer so it tops off from 12-1 at night.
