    I believe what Ingtar is saying is put a tee near the top of the vertical rise in the tube on your trash can.
    It can be a very small diameter. It will pump a bit of water back into the bucket (yes, which is redundant) but it will allow just enough air into the line to break the syphon when the pump turns off.

    If your using the standard "air line" tubing, you can pick up a small plastic tee or tee with a gate valve that are used to regulate the flow of air bubbles going into air stones. Available at ANY local pet joint.

    okay, that makes sense. In essence we are venting, and need to pu the tee at the highest elevation of the line. duh
