    You will get shock if you are putting hands in water and you are standing barefoot.

    Try these things...
    Put hands in water and stand on some wooden chair or table...
    Or put hands in water then stand wearing slippers...
    You will not feel current.

    But if you stand barefoot on ground then you will current. This happens because when you put hands in water and stand barefoot on ground then indirectly you make/complete CIRCUIT...which allows the current to flow from water to ground. That way you feel current.

    If the current is in water and the fish tank is not grounded then obviously current will not flow anywhere.
    So,
    No Grounding = Safe for fish harmful for You.
    Grounding = safe for you but may be harmful for Fish.

    If you want to work with aquarium then please turn off all the equipment then start working.
