ARMAN DIY 60 cree led build (should i add cyan??)

This is my 1st DIY LED build. Thank alot to mike from rapidled for awesome customer service, and FaceofDeceit for the color leds reccommendation. This is my 1st DIY LED build, I wil ask alot of question and need alot of help as I go. I have made the order, and here what I have.

48 Premium Ultra Premium LED :

16 white - 60 optic
18 royal blue - 80 optic
6 blue - 80 optic
6 uv - no optic
2 red- no optic

2 Drilled/tapped 6" x 20" Black Anodized Aluminum Heat Sink

I have order this because, I might order more LEDs later on.

4 Mean Well ELN-60-48P dimmable driver

I will be able to used a controller on this driver. I will get a controller later on. Maybe in a 1-2 months.

It will be on my 120g display tank.

Here are the corals I plan to keep.
Mostly LPS, will do some SPS later ( I love the acro's, amazing)

Waiting for the delivery to get here is a pain in the (beep). But, it schedule to be here on 3/1/2012.

Its good to see more people mixing colors to get a better spectrum. Looking forward to seeing this bad boy up and running.

 

How long is a 120g? Will this be enough for the length/depth?

That sounds like a doable price for me, I may want to look into something just like this when my new lights (PC's) goet older bulbs, etc. My new ones do come with a total of 6 Led's for the moon night look.

Thanks, tank dimension is 48 x 24 x 24. I have talk with Mike from Rapidled, he have reccommended me atleast 60 leds. And 80 if SPS heavy. I am on a budget now, that why I order 2 Drilled/tapped 6" x 20" Black Anodized Aluminum Heat Sink. 1 heatsink will hold 36 leds. I can order more leds if I need to later. Have to love DIY, mix and upgrade whenever you want (if you have money lol).

 

I will do 24 leds on each heat sink for now.

 

Leds Layout

Here are what I plan for my leds layout. There will be 24 leds on each heat sink.

8 white star (60 optic) : white
9 blue square (80 optic) : royal blue
3 blue circle (80 optic) : blue
3 purpleish star (no optic) : uv
1 red star (no optic) : red

Is a quick drawing, sorry if is hard to see.

Will this layout give me the best color spread and good tank coverage?

Should I move it around? And where?

New led layout

Hi again,

Led will be arriving today. I have made a new LED layout. The royal blue and white going to be on the outside. The UV, blue, red going to be in the middle.



Will this give me better light spreading?
