ANYONE EVER see fungia like this? Than tell me what kind it is!

    I'm so anxious for them to become free living to see if another one is gonna pop up in their place!...the biggest one has got to be getting close to the size, they both eat like pigs :)

    Hey thats not a fungia.Thats a type of aptasia!! They had some at a store down here and the guy told me they were aptasia that came in on some corals rocks.They are mean looking cuz they are mean.I thought they were a type of duncanopsamia that I was looking for at the time.

    if they are so mean then why are they not bothering the zoanthids its been living by since it popped up..and if its a aptasia its the worlds first anemone with a skeleton....its a fungia..

    I posted new pics for ya yesterday..look on the page before this one :) big one is probably as big if not a little bigger than a quarter..the little one is about the size of a dime..maybe a little bigger..

    I had wanted to buy them and he wouldnt sell them to me because they were aiptasia.
    Good luck to you. Its not my opinion ,Im just shareing something I learned.I also have seen some that looked like a real colorful zoa.

    Well then i think ur LFS may have given u some bad info... nothing against you personally :)

    I think the answer is right in front of you. I remember when you first posted it looking for help with it's ID. Since we know it grew from that area within the zoanthid colony, I'm thinking it picked up some nice zooxanthellae from the zoas that probably wouldn't normally host within a fungia. So you have a one-of-a-kind....

    This guy at the LFS has been doing this almost his whole life includeing dive collection for the business that ships to all the states and he has never steered me wrong.Many of the things you get throughout the united states came from florida.So we see the things that are removed before shipment.Some hitchhikers make it through you should see what doesnt.
