    could it b a porciline (sp) crab?if its something new mabe a nudibranch? hard to tell especially on my phone.

    No, they are harmless. they will feed on coraline algae and reproduce fairly rapidly but add to the biodiversity of your tank.

    Well I've read that they will feed on corals, true or not true?

    I've had them before and i have them now,never had any coral munched on.I've never had any issues with them.They spread by dividing,but i'm not sure of there lifespan as it seems there numbers go up and down.

    I found a good rule of thumb for asterinas was to remove if I didn't have to get to wet.

    i had a star crawl out of my rock after i put my corals in and the next i know hes trying to eat one.. luckely i caught him in the act and the coral bounced back but i dont think you have the same one i did. yours does look like asterina
