Any DIY hang on overflows?

    Actually, there are many alternatives, and superior performance DIY's.

    I've actually sort of tutored several people via PM's, that have built their own also.

    You don't have to spend anywhere near $40, to have an intank, surface skimming overflow with well over a foot of linear skimming area like a RR has. Also to make the DIY HOB part- Self priming is a mis-statement. The design I use never loooses it's prime. This is WITHOUT an aqualifter.
    I no longer have the aqualifter- wasn't doing anything- so I took it off and capped the port you use to start to siphon on the upper loop.

    My DIT overflow is 1.5 inch ID throughout- lots of flow
