    Build upside down J's out of egg crate to hang it on the side of the tank, make it however long you want. Make the J's for however deep you want them to hang in the tank. Make it 6-10 rows front to back and put a "fence" around the outside edge of it out of egg crate to prevent snails from knocking stuff off of it. Real simple to make. Use zipties to hold it all together, which makes it easier to modify later as needed.
