    Sump Buckets.jpg
All of the buckets for the sump system, (Sump return bucket, Reserve water Bucket, Fuge, Skimmer/reactor bucket, Overflow rail to sump return bucket). Putting it all together in stand is a little like playing “Tetris”;D

Should have everything finished today, Had to do some modifications to the skimmer/reactor & fuge containers last nite :-/ (minor design flaw corrected).

Should start filling the system Sunday.

After swearing profusely about my design flaw, (I did not allow for a pour spout from the fuge and skimmer/reactor buckets onto the drain rail to the return sump), I cut off the front of both buckets and re-cut them to allow for the pour spouts…

    New fuge.jpg
New re-designed front of fuge bucket, this time with a pour spout ;D

    Fuge Spout.jpg

Close up of the pour spout, the skimmer/reactor bucket also had this modification done to it as well.

With any luck I will be filling this puppy over the next few days and will upload picks of the whole deal :)

Ohhh I finally get what you meant by "buckets" this makes a ton of sense now :) Just wanted to say that the "pore spouts" look super nice!! You are very good at working with acrylic! (hehe kinda obvious since you dare to make a whole system out of it) love this build!

After a few versions of the “buckets” for the sump/filter I finally settled on a really clean functional arrangement. This has been one heck of a learning experience. My first filter arrangement ended up more complicated than needed. To make things much worse; I made a serious math error and built the return bucket too small to handle the water volume in the event of a power outage – OOPS!

So after much cursing and building new buckets the final design is working awesome. Super silent and moves a ton of water! Using valves on the return pump, drain to refuge, and skimmer buckets I have an optimal balance of flow throughout the filter system.

View of the entire system, it really does look eerie in person. Sometimes it looks like the DT is being held up only by the return PVC pipe LOL…

    Overflow.jpg
    Super Silent Overflow design!

    Silent spillover.jpg
Super Silent spill-over system makes for a very quiet system overall!

Time to put a few live creatures in now and start the tank cycle!
